Activist and president of the newly shaped Raijor Dal, Akhil Gogoi, who’s underneath arrest, will contest the approaching meeting polls in Assam from the Sibasagar seat.

Gogoi has been underneath arrest since December 2019 for his position within the violent anti-Citizenship Modification Act (CAA) protests in Assam that claimed 5 lives. At current, he’s admitted on the Guwahati Medical Faculty Hospital.

Raijor Dal was shaped final 12 months by Krishak Mukti Sangram Samiti (KMSS), a farmers’ rights physique which Gogoi was heading. The group had performed a key position within the anti-CAA protests.
