EC orders repoll in a sales space in Jangipara constituency of Bengal’s Hooghly

The Election Fee of India has ordered repolling at one sales space in Jangipara meeting constituency in West Bengal’s Hooghly district.

The order got here after political events, together with the BJP, raised allegations that brokers of the ruling Trinamool Congress accompanied and assisted voters to forged their votes, stated a senior ballot panel official.

The repoll could be held on April 10 when 44 different constituencies in six districts, together with Kolkata, would go to polls within the fourth part. Polling in Jangipara seat was held on April 6 within the third part.

Debjit Sarkar, BJP spokesperson welcomed the transfer saying: “Nearly all political events had complained that TMC brokers had been taking folks contained in the polling sales space and even accompanied some to the EVMs.”

The TMC candidate from Jangipara, Snehasis Chakraborty, instructed reporters that the repoll was pointless and refuted the fees.

“The polling was free and honest. I’m not positive why the repoll was ordered,” he stated.

The third part of polling was held in 31 meeting constituencies in three districts of West Bengal on April 6, the place a complete voter turnout of 84.61 per cent was registered.
